Gregorick unloads three issues of PowerStation (UK) on us. Awesome!!

Kiwi

Jason gives us another early issue, the earliest we have of this title so far, of Australian PC User.

Family Computer Magazine #8 is available HERE.  This was scanned by Hubz and edited by me.  Remember, the entire mag is read right-to-left, so you've got to set your CBR reader to Japanese/manga mode if you want the facing pages to be in the proper order.  This was published around the same time as the Famicom Disk System launched (as well as one of its launch titles, The Legend of Zelda), so that's the big news this time around.

Kiwi

Trawling through content still to be added from scanning members Nipedley's scans of issues 04, 05 and 10 of Games World have now been added to the site.

AralDite gives us the PC Powerplay Hardware Tech Special (2011). Unfortunately it looks like the lettering on the cover of this issue was gold metallic sheet and no scanner on earth can handle scanning that correctly. I know .. I've tried with silver metallic covers with identical results.

Quote from: Kiwi on Feb 03, 2024, 09:26 PMJason provides us with one of the missing Hyper issues .... The Japan Special .... scanned on a flatbed so maximum effort involved in getting this out. Oh man!! I HATE scanning on a flatbed scanner  :P

Thank you @Jason! Does somebody know a) when this Special was published and b) if there are any other Hyper Special magazines? I checked the Retromags Database but couldn't find the Japan issue at all...

I dont know the exact publishing date of this first Japan special, but you can get a rough idea from some of the ads. eg page 10 has an advertisement for Metal Gear preorders "Coming in early 2012" so I'd say its a fair assumption to place this in the later half of 2011.Page 37 has a WWE game teaser for a 24th November release.

There is a second Japan Special which I've finished scanning and will be up here soon. There's also a SciFi special which I have yet to tackle....scanning these is a slow process and I need to take a break for a day or two after each one lest I go crazy :)

Also thanks again to our member Gater who loaned these to me, plus quite a few others for scanning, as well as some fantastic donations that will all appear here as they're completed.

Jason gives us the other Hyper Japan Special issue.

Again, this was scanned on a flatbed and due to the binding some blurring is noticeable down the spine as he didn't want to damage the magazine given it was loaned to him by a member for scanning.

Kiwi

Gregorick scans P2 #52 .....

Kiwi

... along with PSM2 issues 32 and 33.

Thank you, Jason, appreciate all your efforts! I looked a little more closely (didn't notice this in the first place): and in the bottom right corner of the front page is the publish year (in very small letters). You were correct, it was indeed 2011. Also, the 2nd Japan special is from 2013.

Kiwi

Weekend reading recommendations are Gregorick's newly scanned PSW (UK) issues 28 and 37.

Kiwi

Also incoming from Gregorick is TipStation #14.

Kiwi

Nipedley is up next with issues 12, 14 and 15 of Games World.
